Whalers fall in five

The Nantucket High School varsity volleyball team hosted Sturgis West on Monday in a hard-fought match that went the distance before the Whalers fell in the decisive fifth set. Mariana Silva led the Whalers with seven aces, while captain Julie Pires stood out with 22 service receptions. With the loss, Nantucket dropped to 1-5 on the season. The Whalers will look to bounce back at home on Saturday, September 27, when they face Abington at 11 am.
