Taking out the trash

PHOTOGRAPHY BY BILL HOENK

The Nantucket Litter Derby, the island’s annual spring cleanup effort, brought together 18 teams for a two-day sweep of the island earlier this month. Competing teams combed roadsides, paths, and shorelines, emerging with over six tons of trash. When the totals were tallied, CLEANIACK came out on top for the fourth year running, with the Land Bank Trashers in second and the ‘Sconset Clean Team third for their work on the western end of the island.
