More than 30,000 runners laced up their shoes on Patriots’ Day, April 20, for the 130th annual Boston Marathon, representing countries and causes from across the world. Nantucket once again had a strong presence at the starting line, with at least 10 known island residents among the field, plus many others with ties to the island. Local runners competed in support of a variety of causes, among them the Boston Children’s Hospital, the Bill Belichick Foundation, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
