Starry night sights

Nantucketers turned their eyes skyward last month for a one-night-only stargazing event at Altar Rock. The gathering — hosted by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, Nantucket Lights, and Maria Mitchell Association — marked International Dark Sky Week with a guided tour of the heavens. Local astronomers helped attendees identify constellations, planets, and deep-sky objects while learning about the environmental importance of protecting dark skies.
