Downtown Nantucket was alive with art and activity last Saturday as two popular markets drew crowds under clear skies. From early morning, Sustainable Nantucket’s Farmers & Artisans Market filled Cambridge Street with fresh produce, handmade goods, jewelry, and artwork. Just a block away, the Artists Association of Nantucket hosted its 95th annual Sidewalk Art Show in the Nantucket Atheneum garden, showcasing work by more than two dozen artist members. Founded in 1930 by artist Maud Stumm and taken over by AAN in 1960, the show is now the oldest event of its kind in the country and remains one of the association’s signature traditions.
