Main Street goes vintage
Chrome gleamed and engines rumbled Saturday morning as festival goers flocked to Main Street for the antique car parade. Vintage automobiles of every make and era lined the cobblestones, drawing thousands of admirers. The weather leaned cool but cooperative, with temperatures holding just shy of 50° under a steady northeast breeze. Clear skies offered a welcome contrast to last year’s rainout, and the chill did little to dim the enthusiasm of the thousands who turned out to celebrate.
Daffy fun for kids
At Children’s Beach, the festivities leaned into more family-friendly fun. Families gathered at the bandstand for the annual hat pageant, where daffodil-themed headwear competed for ribbons in adult and youth categories, while the bike parade sent a cheerful procession of decorated bicycles and wagons rolling past. The fun carried into the afternoon with a NanPuppets show, a performance by magician Magic Mark, and a dog parade with NiSHA.
Parked and Picnicking
Sunny skies ushered the colorful lineup of decorated antiques out of town, down Milestone Road, and into ‘Sconset, where crowds gathered for the traditional post-parade picnic. Elaborate spreads and themed displays filled the streets leading into the east-end village.
