Each year, as the summer rush subsides and Nantucket eases into the quieter months, our photographer Bill Hoenk takes a look back at the scenes and stories that made up another memorable year on the island. This year's selection, more than ever, reflects the push and pull of the island's seasons: on one hand, the full swing of summer, when Nantucket is at its most crowded and colorful; on the other, the slow pace of the off-season, when the island turns inward and returns to the people who live here year-round. And always, the scenery, a stretch of sea and sky, you won't find anywhere else.
