Waves of hope

A blustery morning couldn’t stop Nantucket from showing up in full force Saturday for the 13th annual Swim Across America Nantucket fundraiser. Hundreds gathered at Jetties Beach for the open-water swim, and though the weather kept many swimmers from fully diving in, the event was able to raise a record $1 million for on-island cancer care and research. Proceeds benefit Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Palliative & Supportive Care of Nantucket, and Mass General Cancer Center in Boston.
