On Friday, August 22, supporters of the The Trustees of Reservations gathered at The Nantucket Hotel for a night celebrating the group’s conservation efforts. Originally planned as a beach party, the event was moved indoors due to the lingering effects of Hurricane Erin. Attendees heard from community leaders and special guests about ongoing conservation at the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge, which The Trustees protected for the past 50 years. All proceeds from the evening went toward the preservation of the refuge’s beaches, trails, and wildlife habitats, which play a key role in protecting Nantucket Harbor and the downtown area from storms and flooding.
