Keeping heritage alive

The Nantucket Historical Association spotlighted centuries-old craft traditions over the weekend at the 1800 House on Mill Street, where hands-on skills like basket weaving, paper marbling, furniture-making, and metal-smithing are drawing growing interest. Now in its 20th year, the longtime Decorative Arts program recently relaunched as Heritage Crafts, a name change that organizers say reflects a renewed commitment to preserving endangered art forms.
