Nantucket's waters stirred with renewed energy last week as recreational scalloping season got underway. Under clear skies and cool fall air, early risers took to the harbor to scoop up the island's prized mollusks. Early reports suggest recent reseeding efforts in Nantucket Harbor are paying off, with adult scallops turning up in more areas than usual — an encouraging sign for the season ahead.
