Island heroes recognized

Nantucket's modern-day lifesavers were honored Friday during the 22nd annual Lifesavers Recognition Day at the Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum. The ceremony, hosted by Egan Maritime Institute and Nantucket Cottage Hospital, recognized island lifeguards, harbormaster crew, Coast Guard personnel, first responders, and several individuals who stepped in during life-threatening emergencies this year.
