Fun on the Fourth

PHOTOGRAPHY BY BILL HOENK

Red, white, and blue were the colors of the weekend as thousands flocked to Nantucket to celebrate the nation's independence. On Friday morning, families and friends shared the patriotic spirit with festive activities on Main Street, including a "touch a truck" event in place of the usual water fight, which was canceled due to drought conditions. The celebration continued at Children's Beach with games, live music, and face painting, while beachgoers gathered at popular spots like 40th Pole and Nobadeer Beach to make the most of the sunshine.
