Rainy remembrance

Umbrellas dotted Prospect Hill Cemetery on Sunday afternoon as Nantucketers gathered in the rain for the island’s annual Memorial Day ceremony honoring fallen service members. Hosted by VFW Post 8608, the observance brought together veterans, Boy and Girl Scouts, public safety officials, residents, and visitors, with the damp weather adding to the ceremony’s quiet, reflective tone. The traditional Memorial Day parade through town was canceled this year.
