Race day at the bog

PHOTOGRAPHY BY SARA WILLIAMS

Hundreds of runners and walkers hit the trails of the Milestone Cranberry Bog on Saturday morning for the 24th annual Race for Open Space, a fundraiser for the Nantucket Conservation Foundation. Luke MacKay and Sarah Roberts, both of Nantucket, took top honors in the 5K with times of 18:59 and 21:10, respectively. In the 10K, Boston's George Rand placed first in 37:54, while Chicago's Lucy Gund won the women's division in 42:22. Proceeds from the race help support the NCF's mission to preserve and protect the island's open spaces.
