History meets design

PHOTOGRAPHY BY BILL HOENK

Design lovers had much to celebrate last week as the Nantucket Historical Association brought back its signature summer fundraiser, Nantucket by Design. Held July 14-17, the event welcomed leading interior designers, architects, and creatives for an exploration of this year's theme: Interwoven. Drawing from the NHA's 2025 exhibition Behind the Seams: Textiles and Clothing on Nantucket, the programming invited guests to consider the intersection of history and design through keynotes, panel discussion, and lively gatherings.

To kick off the week, VIPs gathered for an opening night party at The Nantucket Hotel then fanned out to various pop-up events at NHA properties. A series of panel discussions brought together leading voices in the design world — including keynote speaker Martha Stewart — culminating in a closing night celebration at the Whaling Museum.
