Art in the Open

Plein Air Nantucket, the annual outdoor painting festival hosted by the Artists Association of Nantucket, was held last week. The week-long event encourages all artists of any skill level to set up their easels around the island before displaying their freshly completed works on the festival’s “wet wall” at the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery on Federal Street. The paintings were available for purchase throughout the event. The festival wrapped up with a closing reception and presentation of the Frank Swift Chase Awards, which recognize excellence in plein air painting.
